‘Ego-Mind-Intelligence’- The lethal Gang – Part two

To regain control of our lives, we now need to confront the ‘False Ego’ and show him his true place; he’s not a ‘master’ but a ‘servant’. You know it’s the ‘Real’ Ego that’s ruling your private world when the inner decree is ‘I want to serve; I am grateful; I love, not exploit; I spread goodness and give, not grab and hate’. Paradoxically, when we are situated as a ‘servant’ that’s precisely when we get mastery over the mind and intelligence.

An example could illustrate this principle better.
A man is in a relationship with a girl. She is devoted to him, and he too professes his chastity for her. He could be either driven by the ‘false’ or the ‘real’ ego. Let’s first take the scenario where the boss of this man’s inner crime family is ‘False Ego’. Remember the false ego wants to exploit and enjoy rather than serve and give.

One day a beautiful woman joins his team in office. He’s attracted to her and slowly begins to flirt, exchange numbers and attempts to win her over with his charms. In this case, being governed by his false ego, his mind has ‘accepted’ the woman and intelligence instantly supplies ways of winning her over. Soon his mind would also ‘reject’ his earlier partner and intelligence provides sound reasoning to end the relationship in favor of this new and exciting one.
Now the second scenario- If however this gentleman is governed by the ‘real ego’ centered on service, then his inner family is a happy one; the mind ‘rejects’ the opportunity to explore this new relationship, and the intelligence promptly reasons, ‘I am committed and loyal to my partner. She too loves me’
While mind seeks to defend the ego’s desires, intelligence acts as an obedient servant to the mind. A Terrorist may be driven by a massive false ego, ‘I am the greatest, and my religion is the only path to God’. His mind accepts and rejects people, relationships, activities all based on this fundamental order of the ego. Then the intelligence plans a massive terror strike on all ‘non-believers’ and as the world is stunned by this dastardly act, and you are wondering how could any human being possibly do this, the terrorist has no qualms. He’s convinced this is the best thing to do; his intelligence justifies the most monstrous acts as the will of God. 13th century Persian Muslim poet and Sunni mystic, Jalaluddin Rumi said, “The ego is a veil between humans and God”
This ego maniac’s mindset has been revealed in the Bhagavad Gita, “Bewildered by false ego, strength, pride, lust and anger, the demons become envious of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is situated in their own bodies and in the bodies of others, and blaspheme against the real religion” (16.18).
This also answers the question why we think the way we do; why we hate endlessly or remain confused about our choices in life. Our biases, prejudices and likes and dislikes are interplay of this trio in action.

Therefore let’s now take a step backwards by questioning our own beliefs and values rather than judge others. Let’s work on reviving the ‘Real’ Ego, the purified consciousness where the ‘I’ is an eternal being full of happiness and driven by loving service.

And then you’d be pleasantly surprised to discover you have two best friends in your inside world- the mind and intelligence- who now help you not only discover inner peace but they also help you spread this happiness all around.

Very nice article with great analogy to ignite a deep introspection to discover the real enemy (false Ego) who gangs up with mind and intelligence.
Many times I have noticed that a good relationship ends with bitter end just because of some unpleasant experiences. After reading this article I can very well understand the cause of this. It’s not external reasons but internal situation.
Thanks for sharing this it is very helpful.
