Chapter 14, along with Chapter 17 and Chapter 18 share the concept that once you know and understand, you can feel you life changed.
Chapert 13 end with Krishna saying that we are trapped in this material bondage in this material world.
But first we need to understand how are we trapped in this world, which is explained in the 14 Chapter and it is known as 3 modes of material nature.
Krishna starts by telling what would happen when you get this knowledge, you would the eternal nature of the Lord and that is Sad-Chit-Ananda, Eternal-Full of Knowledge-Full of Bliss.
Everything is Bramham and He impregenates the Bramhan with living entities. Krishna is the Seed giving father to the living entities and Material Nature is mother.
When you look at the world as per the Scriptures, this world is known as Prison and the living entity is prisoner and Mother Durga is the Jailor giving us punishment through
1. Problem that arises through Mind.
2. Problem that arises through other living entities.
3. Problem that arises through material world.
One the living entites arrive to this material world, they have to go through 4 things
1. Cloths – Living entities have to go through 84 lakh different of bodies just like and one changes through to different cloths.
2. Chains – The three modes of Material Nature
When living entities get to this material nature and they come under the influence of three modes of material nature. The three modes are
Sattva Guna – The Mode of Godness
Rajas Guna – The Mode of Passion
Tamas Guna – The Mode of Ignorance
And not only the Human Being, all element of the material nature and the material natures binds into these different modes of nature.
Now, the mode you choose, you would get binded to it and you would automatically hold on to that modes in the same kind of situation.
So ultimately once has to practice being in the Mode of Goodness to elevate to higher conciousness. However, one need to understand is not easy to stay in this mode cause the rest of the modes would pull you down.
And it is possible to stay in Sattva Guna when you slow down, be peaceful, grateful and be present to everything and finally being detached instead of constantly judging and analysing, being of controllig tendancy and being in fear.
