Meanwhile the puppy wandered into the town of nawadwip and exhibited symptoms of ecstatic love of god. Since he had become dear to Lord Chaitanya mahaprabhu, the lord’s mercy showered upon this puppy. To the astonishment of town’s people the puppy raised his claws and began loudly chanting Hare Krishna hare Krishna Krishna Krishna hare hare hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare.
As he chanted, he induced all humans to also chant the holy names of Krishna. People were wonderstruck to see the dog chant and dance with tears of love streaming down his eyes. The eight symptoms of ecstatic love of Krishna were decorating the puppy’s body. Then right before everyone’s eyes, while chanting the holy names of lord Hari, the puppy died. As all concurred that this was indeed most auspicious event, a wonderful, golden chariot descended from the spiritual sky. The chariot was decorated with beautiful golden domes and valuable jewels. There were celestial beings from the lord’s spiritual abode who came to carry the soul of the puppy back to goloka vrindavan. At that moment the dog assumed his transcendental, spiritual form and boarded the chariot. The denizens of heavenly planets- the celebrated demi-gods showered flowers on the puppy and began to chant the glories of the supreme personality of godhead, lord gaura hari. The chariot ascended and took the puppy back to goloka vrindavan. The demi-gods cried profuse tears of gratitude, loudly proclaiming that no incarnation of the lord is as merciful; for in the role of chaitanya mahaprabhu, he has delivered an insignificant dog and given him the highest spiritual destination by simply touching and playing with it for a brief moment. They all chanted loudly in unison, “jai Sachinandan, gaura hari.”
One day mother Sachi went with her friends to worship goddess shasti, to invoke her blessings to protect Nimai. She had prepared many sweets to offer to the goddess. Nimai saw and stopped her. He asked her where she was taking so many sweets to, and on learning about the worship, he demanded that his mother offer all the sweets to him instead. He grabbed the sweets and ate all of them. Sachi mata was upset. She said, “No Nimai, this is an offense to the goddess. You have done wrong.”
